Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of the Republic of Srpska (RS) Petar Djokic said that the project for the construction of desulfurization facility at thermal power plant Ugljevik woth more than 100 million euros is one of the largest energy related projects which are currently being implemented.
Minister Djokic explained that the part of this project was also the installation of electrostatic filters during the annual overhaul last year, worth about 10 million euros. This way, the operation of TPP Ugljevik will be significantly improved and it already has higher and more efficient production than before.
He said that this is the first large investment in TPP Ugljevik since its commissioning in 1980s. Desulfurization facility will significantly reduce the emission of harmful gases and particles in the atmosphere, and will extend the plant’s operational life as well. The installation of this facility is one of the obligations which Bosnia and Herzegovina has taken as a member of the Energy Community.
