Bulgaria: BEH established energy storage subsidiary

State-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding has established a new subsidiary, National Energy Operator, which will focus on systems that will contribute to the development and storage of green energy, Bulgarian caretaker Minister of Energy Rossen Hristov announced.

The creation of National Energy Operator is in line with the priorities of the EU’s Green Deal included in the National Development Program Bulgaria 2030 and the Integrated Energy and Climate Plan for 2021-2030. Under the plan, Bulgaria aims to achieve a minimum 27.09% share of renewables in its gross energy consumption by 2030.
