In the period between 1 January and 31 May 2020 production of electricity in Bulgaria has decreased by 10.25 % compared to the same period in 2019 and reached 17.39 TWh, according to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO.
Bulgaria’s electricity consumption dropped as well in the same period, by 3.32 % reaching a total of 16.36 TWh. Electricity exports dropped by 21.47% in the same period to 3 TWh, while imports of electricity rose by 44.55 % to 1.97 TWh.
The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network rose by 20.83 % to 634 GWh, while RES share in the country’s distribution network increased by 13.52 % to 889.9 GWh.
