According to the data published by Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator ESO, production of electricity in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and 12 December 2020 has decreased by 15.05 % compared to the same period in 2019 and reached 1.534 TWh. Bulgaria‟s electricity consumption dropped as well in the same period, by 8.03 % reaching a total of 1.532 TWh. Meanwhile, electricity exports dropped by 98.75 % in the same period to just 1,750 MWh. The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES) in the transmission network rose by 50.99 % to 54.99 GWh, while RES share in the country‟s distribution network increased by 34.62 % to 71.72 GWh.
