Electricity production in Bulgaria in the period between 1 January and July 2 ammounted to 20.9 TWh. That is 22% less than in the same period last year, according to Bulgarian electricity transmission system operator.
Electricity consumption decreased by 6% reaching 18.9 TWh. Surplus electricity amounted to 1.93 TWh in 2023, 71% less than in 2022. Baseload power plants produced 16.7 TWh of electricity in 2023. That is 26% less than in 2022.
The share of electricity produced from renewable energy sources in the transmission network rose by 31% to 1,059 GWh, while RES share in distribution network increased by 1% to 1,176 GWh.
