Kozloduy NPP-Newbuild and Westinghouse Electric Company signed a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract for a new AP1000 reactor. It should be located at the site of the existing nuclear power plant.
The implementation of the contract was launched in June. It includes activities to assess the opportunities for integrating Bulgarian industry into the project for the construction of a new nuclear power plant with AP1000 technology and to make maximum use of the existing infrastructure at NPP Kozloduy.
The two companies earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a joint working group to plan deployment of the AP1000 reactor in Bulgaria.
