Rezolv Energy acquired the rights to build and operate a solar power plant St George, with installed capacity of 229 MW, from local company YGY Industries. The future solar power plant will be the largest in Bulgaria. Estimated annual electricity generation is 313 GWh, which is about 13% of solar energy output projected for 2023 in Bulgaria.
The power plant will be built on an area covering 165 hectares on the site of the decommissioned Silistra airfield. Equipped with about 400,000 solar panels, the power plant is expected to be completed in early 2025 and will have a lifetime of over 30 years.
The solar power plant will be connected to the main 110 kV transmission network via two independent transmission lines. Rezolv Energy said that the electricity the facility will generate will be sold to commercial and industrial users through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
