Bulgarian Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov said that gas-fired thermal power plant Varna owes to state-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz some 19.2 million euros and the supplier seeks an attachment of its bank accounts.
Minister Nikolov said that the entire outstanding amount of 19.2 million euros is owed for natural gas supplied or reserved in just two months January and February 2022, as well as for penalties. He added that Bulgargaz will take all the remedies provided for by the law to recover the receivables, including attachment of the debtor’s bank accounts, action and enforcement proceedings with the respective precautionary measures.
On 1 February, Bulgargaz suspended gas supplies to TPP Varna and asked it to pay in full by 10 March.
