Bulgarian mining company Mini Maritsa East stops excavation of overburden until end-March
, SEE Energy NewsIn the effort to mitigate the spread of coronavirus, Bulgarian state-owned mining company Mini Maritsa East announced that it will stop activities on the excavation of overburden until the end of March.
The statement from the company said that coal mining activities will continue, adding that the supply of coal to nearby thermal power plants will not be interrupted since there are enough quantities of already uncovered coal.
Mini Maritsa East supplies coal mainly to three nearby thermal power plants: state-run Maritsa East 2, TPP Galabovo owned by AES and TPP Maritsa East 3 owned by ContourGlobal.
