A total volume of 528,163.4 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in January 2022, which is 38.9 % less
than in December, of which 465,503.8 MWh on the day-ahead market and 62,659.6 MWh on the intraday market. Traded volume in January 2022 was 19.1 % lower compared to the same month last year.
Average daily base price on day-ahead market in January amounted to 206.74 euros/MWh, which is 17.9 % lower than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 232.54 euros/ MWh, 21.2 % lower compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 204.76 euros/MWh, 17 % lower compared to December.
There are 27 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market (four more compared to the previous month), eighteen of which have been active on
the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in January amounted to 15,016.3 MWh.
CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the
Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June 2018, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
