Croatia: CROSCO signed a 3.5 million euro contract for geothermal exploration.
CROSCO, an integrated onshore and offshore drilling and well services contractor, a subsidiary of oil company INA, signed a deal worth 3.5 million euros for the construction of a geothermal water exploratory well, Korenovo GT-1, near Bjelovar.
The mayor of Bjelovar, Dario Hrebak, said that the deal is part of a pilot project introducing geothermal water as a source of district heating in Bjelovar. According to him, it is expected to find water at a depth of up to 1,500 meters with a temperature of 70-80 degrees Celsius which is planned to be used to heat the business zone Veliko Korenovo.
Work on the well will start in November and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024. Additional five to six geothermal wells are expected to be developed on the territory of the town to provide heating to residential buildings and public institutions.
