According to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia in August 2016 amounted to 880 GWh, which is 33.13 % more than in the same month last year, when the production amounted to 661 GWh.
During August, 456 GWh of electricity or 51.82 % was produced in hydropower plants, 301 GWh or 34.2 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 86 GWh or 9.77 % of total produced electricity. In this period, Croatia imported 895 GWh of electricity, which is 13.02 % less than in August 2015, while electricity exports stood at 258 GWh, which is 108.06 % more than in August 2015.
Regarding hydrocarbons production, Croatia produced 147 million cubic meters of natural gas in August 2016, which is 3.3 % less than in the same month last year. Natural gas imports stood at 88 million cubic meters or 72.5 % more compared to August 2015. Crude oil production stood at 58,000 tons (11.5 % increase), while crude oil imports stood at 343,000 tons or over four times more than in the same month last year (75,000 tons). Production of petroleum products stood at 393,000 tons in August 2016, which is 2.3 % more compared to August 2015.
