Net electricity production in Croatia in May amounted to 1,522 GWh. That is 67% higher compared to May last year (914 GWh), according to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
In May, 923 GWh of electricity or 61% was produced in hydropower plants, 258 GWh or 20% was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 237 GWh or 16% of total produced electricity.
Croatia imported 677 GWh of electricity in May, 31 less compared to last May (976 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 786 GWh, 59.8 % more compared to May 2022 (492 GWh). Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 61 million cubic meters of natural gas in May 2023, which is 3.2 % less compared to last May. Natural gas imports stood at 184 million cubic meters, 23% less than in May 2022.
