Croatia: Hydrocarbons Agency Law amendments, SEE Energy News
Hydrocarbon Agency (AZU), which already takes care of the mandatory stocks of oil and petroleum products, will also assume the activity of the wholesaler of petroleum products, since the stocks need to be managed, as well as the possibility to generate income from that basis. These amendments are necessary for AZU to obtain an energy permit.
The Croatian Government sent an amendment to the Law on the Establishment of the Hydrocarbons Agency to the Parliament.
It places greater emphasis on the role of the Agency in research on the geothermal potential of the state and the use of geothermal energy for energy purposes and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. The activities will be further expanded in the form of the Agency’s participation in the process of amending spatial plans. It will also establish a development company for the use of geothermal potential.
