Net electricity production in Croatia in March 2023 rose by 42% compared to March last year (1,189 GWh), to 1,682 GWh, according to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
In March, 844 GWh of electricity (50%) was produced in hydropower plants, 520 GWh (31%) was produced in thermal power plants, and wind farms produced 206 GWh – 12% of total produced electricity.
During March, Croatia imported 832 GWh of electricity, 21% less compared to last March (1,057 GWh). In the same period, electricity exports increased by 58% and reached 968 GWh.
Croatia produced 62 million cubic meters of natural gas in March, 6% less than in March 2022. Natural gas imports fell by 3% to 205 million cubic meters.
