Greece: Lightsource BP and Kiefer to build 640 MW solar capacity

, SEE Energy News

At the latest RES auction, Lightsource BP, 50 % owned by British BP, has secured 140 MW of solar capacity which will be developed under a broader 640 MW partnership with local construction company Kiefer. This marks the entry of Lightsource BP into the Greek renewable energy market and is aligned with its growth strategy. The projects were won with an average bid of 38.5 euros/MWh and represented over 40 % of the total awarded capacity at the May auction.

This 140 MW is a part of 640 MW partnership with Kiefer, where the latter will act as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. The plan is to commission 200 MW in solar capacity (including these 140 MW won at the auction) within two years. Lightsource BP expects to invest 160 million euros in the project.
