Greek state-controlled Public Power Corporation (PPC) has started offering the packages of electricity produced by its lignite-fired power plants to independent electricity suppliers, in accordance to the agreement with the European Commission.
The company has offered electricity packages for all four quarters of 2022 and has already sold 1,740 GWh. The packages were offered both on the European Energy Exchange (EEX) and Greek Energy Exchange (HEnEx).
Sales have so far reached 475 GWh for the first quarter, 382 GWh for the second quarter, 386 for the third quarter and 497 GWh for the fourth quarter. First and second quarter packages have to amount to 872 and 515 GWh, respectively. For the third quarter package, PPC will have to offer 50 % of its lignite-fired electricity generated in the third quarter of this year. Therefore, the total amount of offered electricity for the first three quarters should reach 2,100 GWh by the end of October.
