Greece plans to reach the share of renewable in its final consumption of 61 % by 2030 and a significant portion of that RES power is expected to come from solar power plants.
European solar developer Cero Generation and Greek renewable developer Wattcrop agreed to establish a joint venture company with the aim to develop 750 MW of solar capacity in Greece in the next four years. For starters, the two companies will co-develop Wattcrop’s current portfolio, with some 480 MW in solar project in early stages of development. However, their larger project will be supported by the future Greek power purchase agreement (PPA) market. This joint venture marks Cero’s entry into Greek market. Cero Generation is a part of Macquarie Group, which has 8 GW of solar projects under development in Europe.
