The RES special account’s share of carbon emission rights revenues has been increased to 14.61 percent for 2024, up from 3.8 percent in 2023, the energy ministry has officially announced.
This increase is expected to offer tremendous financial relief to the RES special account. Last year’s 3.8 percent share of CO2 emission rights revenues resulted in a sum of 56.16 million euros for the RES special account.
Also, RES market operator DAPEEP stands to receive a sum of 3 million euros in 2024, the ministry has decided.
The share of carbon emission rights revenues to be received by the industrial sector has also been increased to 17 percent for 2024, up from 11 percent in 2023, while contributions to the Energy Transition Fund will be reduced to 45.8 percent.
In addition, EDEYEP, the Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company, will receive a 2.5 percent share of carbon emission right revenues in 2024, expected to result in a sum of as much as 30 million euros, for offshore wind energy research.
