A joint venture between Iqony Solar Energy Solutions (SENS) and the LSG Group has commissioned a 63-MWp solar power plant in the northeastern Hungary.
The unit of Germany-based Iqony GmbH said in a statement that the project was completed in six months despite having to overcome challenges such as delivery delays and adverse ground conditions. It consists of 95,600 photovoltaic modules which are estimated to generate 85,000 MWh of electricity per year.
Three years ago, the JV called SENS LSG also installed 130 solar arrays in five locations near Budapest and in the north and east of the country for a combined capacity of 65 MWp.
Iqony noted that the solar power sector in Hungary receives support from the government, including in the form of subsidies.
