The Macedonian Government has adopted the information regarding the submitted request by the company Thor Impex for the issuance of permit for the construction of wind farm near Bogoslovec and approved its construction. This would be the first privately-owned wind farm in Macedonia.
The only wind farm in Macedonia – 36.8 MW Bogdanci, operated by state-owned power utility ELEM, was commissioned in 2015. Wind park currently consists of 16 wind turbines, while the second stage of the project envisages the addition of another six turbines. Once completed, Bogdanci wind farm will have installed capacity of 50 MW, which could produce up to 100 GWh of electricity per year, enough to cover the demand of some 60,000 households.
