Montenegrin electricity distribution system operator CEDIS sad that 2022 was concluded with the level of network electricity losses of 11.62 %, which is by 0.77 % lower compared to 2021, and also the lowest annual level of losses ever measured.
The trend of the reduction of losses continued in December, during which a record low level of 13.03 % was also recorded, which is 1.36 % less compared to the same month in the previous year.
By reducing network losses, the total amount of electricity needed to cover losses was reduced by 22,286 MWh compared to 2021, the value of which on the reference HUPX exchange for the mentioned period is around 6 million euros.
Vaso Zekovic from CEDIS said that the undertaken activities in 2022 yielded exceptional results, so the savings compared to 2021 are 6 million euros, while compared to 2020, savings of 37,779 MWh were achieved, the value of which is around 10 million euros. Therefore, by combining the existing advanced systems and continuous actions in the field, a mechanism was formed that will undoubtedly contribute to further reduction of losses, namely finding and preventing unauthorized use of electricity.
CEDIS also noted that the losses level of 11.62 % in 2022 was achieved despite an increase in electricity consumption of 4 % compared to the previous year.
