Electricity transmission system operator CGES and local company MEnergy signed the first contract for connecting a solar power plant to the transmission system. The power plant had an installed capacity of 385 MW and the investment value amounted to 300 million euros.
CGES said in a statement that the operator received a formal application from the investor for connection to the transmission system, which previously obtained urban-technical conditions from the government for the construction of the power plant.
The power plant will be built in Cetinje and Niksicmunicipalities. The contract defines a dynamic plan that foresees the construction and connection of the plant to the network by 2027. Despite the fact that integrating renewable energy sources into the existing network infrastructure presents technical challenges and that CGES has already received a significant number of connection requests, the transmission network is largely prepared for such trends. CGES has already invested significant resources in strengthening and modernizing its capacities, as well as in new projects of regional importance. The company continues with such intensive development of the transmission network, which is confirmed by its very ambitious five-year investment plan worth 195 million euros.
