Escalera International, the company involved in the production and distribution of liquefied natural gas (LNG), is planning to establish a subsidiary in Montenegro in order start gas distribution business in the country.
The company’s Chairman Erkan Icsel said that the company will also submit a request for the construction of terminal for the supply and treatment of LNG to relevant Montenegrin institutions. He noted that Escalera is not interested in hydrocarbons exploration in Montenegro, but exclusively in gas distribution.
Iscel said that LNG will be supplied to Montenegro from the United States and that Kotor is one of possible locations for the future terminal.
In 2014, Escalera International (former Double Eagle Petroleum Co.) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Albanian oil company Albpetrol on joint exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in Albania.
