At the session held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 Serbian government passed a Regulation determining the spatial plan of special purpose area for the transnational pipeline “South Stream” after the proposal of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning.
Ministry of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning of the Republic and Spatial Planning Agency, which is under the jurisdiction of this Ministry, organized and coordinated the work of all relevant factors and actors and promptly made a Spatial plan of special purpose for the “South Stream”. Professional approach in the development of this crucial document for the Republic of Serbia, is reflected in the choice of the Institute for Architecture and Urban Planning of Serbia and “Urban Planning Institute of Vojvodina”.
Through the Republic Agency for Spatial Planning, the Ministry coordinated the work of these important institutions, which resulted in the adoption of the Regulation.
The said Regulation is the basis for taking further steps in order to pass a Law on determining of the public interest for expropriation of the land for the construction of transnational gas pipeline “South Stream”.
“With the construction of this pipeline in addition to a stable energy system, our country gets the possibility to further distribute of this energy to Republic Srpska and Croatia. Serbia would become a regional energy force and thereby strengthen its political and geo-strategic importance,” said Minister of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning Milan Bačević.
According to minister Bacevic, given the importance of this project, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning will actively participate in all stages of the implementation of this project in the future.
