The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has granted regulatory approvals for the construction of new energy generation capacities of 97 MW, which also includes the 46 MW cogeneration project of chemical company Chimcomplex.
Chimcomplex is planning to build a high-efficiency cogeneration power plant with installed capacity of 46.2 MW in Ramnicu Valcea.
In late 2021, the company bought some of the assets of bankrupt electricity and thermal energy producer CET Govora for 8.2 million euros and plans to build a combined cycle power plant at the site of the old plant. The assets bought from CET Govora include the old power plant with natural gas connection, with solid fuel warehouse and adjacent buildings. The capacity of the new plant is planned to cover electricity and thermal energy needs of Chimcomplex’ facility in Ramnicu Valcea and thermal energy needs of the city.
CET Govora is located in Ramnicu Valcea, where Chimcomplex has previously purchased the assets of bankrupt chemical complex Oltchim, and was used to provide district heating services to the municipality.
