The average price on the spot market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM increased again in June, after the increase in the previous month.
Thus, in June 2022, the average closing price of the day-ahead market (DAM) was 1,138 BGN (231.6 EUR) per MWh, compared to 1,000 BGN (203.5 EUR) in May and 861 BGN (175.2 EUR) ) in April.
This means that the price increase amounts to about 10% on a monthly basis.
Compared to June last year, the price is three times higher – in June 2021, the average price at the closing of the DAM was BGN 378 (about 77 euros).
The Romanian spot market is very liquid in – in May 2022, the volume of trade on DAM covered 50% of the total consumption in the country, reaching about 2.11 TWh of electricity, while the value of transactions amounted to 440 million euros.
The electricity spot market in Bucharest is connected to the markets in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and recently also to the markets in Austria, Poland and Germany. In October 2021, the Bucharest spot market is also connected to the Bulgarian one.
