Romanian Competition Council has approved the transaction in which electricity and gas supplier RWE acquired a client portfolio of Fidelis Energy.
The regulator assessed the economic concentration operation in terms of its compatibility with the normal competitive environment and found it poses no significant obstacles in terms of actual competition on the Romanian market or a substantial part of it, mainly by creating or consolidating a dominant position.
Romanian company RWE Energie SRL is directly controlled by the company Budapesti Elektromos Muvek Nyrt and is part of RWE group, active on European electricity and natural gas supply markets. In Romania, RWE is focused on nonhousehold electricity customers, considering that its natural gas supply portfolio is reduced.
