Romanian Competition Council is analyzing the operation by which OMV Petrom, the only oil and gas producer in Romania and the largest integrated energy company in Southeast Europe, takes over a 50% stake in Electrocentrale Borzesti shares from RNV Infrastructure and the companies owned by it, namely Hoopeks International SRL, Green Labs Advertising SRL, Union Wind SRL, Borzeşti Wind SRL and Borzeşti Power SRL.
“According to the provisions of the Competition Law, this transaction must be authorized by the Competition Council, which will evaluate it to establish its compatibility with a normal competitive environment and will issue a decision within the terms provided by the law”, says the institution’s officials.
Electrocentrale Borzesti owns projects from renewable sources with a capacity of approximately 1 GW, of which 950 MW wind and 50 MW photovoltaic.
The companies wholly owned by Electrocentrale Borzeşti aim to develop more electricity production capacities from renewable sources, namely four wind farms and a photovoltaic park, which will be built in northeastern Romania.
RNV Infrastructure SRL is part of the Renovatio Group, a group active through several companies in Romania in the development, generation, marketing, supply and management of assets in the field of renewable energy.
