Romania: Gov extends deadline for bids submission for HPP Tarnita due to the high interest of investors, SEE Energy News
Government decided to extend the deadline for submission of bids for HPP Tarniţa for almost a month. Construction of HPP pumping storage (HPSS) Tarniţa – Lăpuşteşti, first plant of its kind in Romania, is a priority for the short and medium term strategy for energy sector development, provided the Romanian Energy Strategy for 2007-2020.
“As a result of the interest shown by a large number of potential investors to participate in the selection process, Hydro project company Tarniţa announces extension specified in the advertisement for submission of documents for participation in the pre-qualification stage and preliminary non-binding negotiation, in order to implement Tarn-Lăpuşteşti Project CHEAP, from 31 October 2014 until 10.00 on 27 November 2014, 10.00 ” , says in the statement of HydroTarnita company.

“The project is essential in the context of a steadily growing portfolio of plants based on renewable energy sources with uncontrolled production, which requires the installation of additional capacity for balancing Power System (RPS), which will be remunerated ancillary services markets system, market capacity, and market balance. ”
The plant will be a strategic supplier of energy services / system services in the north-western Romania, an area with a shortage of power generation but important contribution in the transfer capability to and from Central and Western Europe, in the context creation of a regional energy market. By placing geographical conditions very advantageous for a plant of this type, the complexity of the national energy system structure, based on a diversified energy mix, the intermittent energy sources will have a significant weight in the context in which Romania intends to become a true provider of security and energy independence in the region, CHEAP Tarniţa – Lăpuşteşti has all the prerequisites to become a leading provider of system services in Romania and regionally.
