The Romanian Government decided that it will, along with fuel companies, cover 0.1 euros per liter of the retail fuel price in the next three months, a measure that is expected to cost more than 400 million euros.

Prime Minister Niculae Ciuca said that this measure is part of the package to protect citizens and businesses and aims to reduce the effects of rising inflation and the effects of the multiple ongoing crises, adding that half of the amount will be covered by the state, and the other half by fuel distribution companies. He added that, at the end of the period of three months, the Government will consider whether a new set of measures will be needed.

Currently, the price of Euro95 petrol stands at 1.747 euros/liter, while the price of diesel is 1.868 euros/liter.
