The Romanian state, the majority owner of Hidroelectrica, agreed at a shareholders’ meeting on Thursday that the company’s shares would be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB). This means that part of the shares of the Proprietate Fund will be sold to investors.
The shareholders of Hidroelectrica adopted the decision to launch a listing of Hidroelektrika on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, as a result of a secondary public offer whose subject are shares representing up to 19.94% of total shares issued by the company, which is held by the Proprietate Fund.
Bogdan Badea, President of the Executive Board of Hidroelektrika, said that he expected the listing to strengthen the company’s position, increase transparency and make a serious contribution to increasing BVB’s liquidity, with positive implications for the national economy.
Hydroelectricity is the largest and most profitable producer of electricity in Romania, with a production of about 17 TWh of electricity. The company currently operates 209 plants, with a total installed capacity of 6,482 MW. The Crucea wind farm was added to this.
