Romania: Permission for direct bilateral electricity trading contracts

25. May 2015. / SEE Energy News

The Romanian parliament has approved legislation to allow direct bilateral contracts between electricity producers from renewable energy sources and suppliers.

So far, legislation prohibits direct transactions between producers and suppliers. All transactions had to be done through OPCOM energy stock exchange.

The new law allows producers of green energy, whose capacity is greater than 3 MW, to sell electricity directly, without having obligation to trade on OPCOM stock exchange.
