Electricity and natural gas supplier and distributor Premier Energy has decided to enter the electricity generation segment, with the aim to develop capacities with a combined generation capacity of 300-500 MW within five years in Romania and other countries in the region.
CFO Iuliana Pansecu said that the company wants to continue the expansion on the main segment of natural gas in Romania, but it also should enter the field of renewables, as a result of the directives and clear intentions of the European Union. Premier Energy recently bought a wind farm near Stejaru, in the Dobrogea area. Beyond Romania, the company has already identified certain targets in neighboring countries – Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia – also in the field of renewables.
In Romania, Premier Energy PLC owns the companies Premier Energy, Ligatne Gas, BERG Sistem Gaz and Premier Energy Trading. The company operates a 2,500 kilometers network of gas distribution pipelines, with a growth rate of about 200 kilometers per year in recent years.
