A probe will be launched into the agreed acquisition of the 108 MW Crucea wind farm electricity producer Hidroelectrica, said Romanian Competition Council. In order to determine whether the concentration is compatible with a normal competitive environment, the Competition Council will consider the notified transaction under the merger regulation.
In late December, Hidroelectrica signed an agreement on the acquisition of the shares held by German STEAG in its Romanian subsidiaries – STEAG Energie Romania and Crucea Wind Farm. The latter company operates the 108 MW Crucea wind farm, commissioned in 2014. The acquisition is part of the company’s strategy to diversify its portfolio by acquiring other renewable energy production capacities.
