The price of electricity on the Romanian spot market reached 34.78 euros/MWh for the delivery day of 12 March, which is the lowest among the countries with whom Romania‘s market is coupled. In Hungary, the price reached 40.04 euros/MWh and in Slovakia and the Czech Republic 39.41 euros/MWh. During the off-peak hours the price of electricity on Romanian spot market fell below 10 euros/MWh.
The main reason for such low price is moderate rain which is expected to boost hydro production, with increasing winds, especially in southern and southeastern regions of the country, where the most wind farms are located.
