Romanian energy complex(CEH) will have to import 150.000 tons of the coal for 14 MEUR, because the Romanian mines will not produce a sufficent amount of this energy source that is needed for the winter season.

According to the general director of CEH, the thermal power plant “MINTIA” needs 240,000 tons of conventional fuel to produce sufficient electricity during the winter period, when consumption is the highest. Coal Mines in Romania, all together, produce 140,000 tons of coal on a monthly basis.

As director of this energy companypointed out, the coal will be imported because thesufficient reserveshave not been provided and because the Romanian coal has heating value of 3,400 kilo-calories, and thermal power plant neess coal with higher calorific value.
