The municipality of Backa Palanka in Serbia’s northern province of Vojvodina has launched an invitation for the selection of a private partner for the production and distribution of thermal energy, along with the reconstruction of the district heating system in the municipality.
The project of the public-private partnership is worth about 10 million euros. The initiative was made due to the lack of the legal framework for the company DP Novi Sad–Gas to continue managing the district heating system, so the obligation was taken on by the Municipality.
The project also entails the reconstruction of the district heating system, which primarily pertains to the reconstruction of the largest part of the heating pipeline network and then also a partial reconstruction of natural gas boilers and the installation of other equipment necessary for the operation of the heating plant and the reconstruction of the heating substations.
The tender is open for submissions until 12 October.
