In addition to existing wood pellet production facility in Boljevac, local company Bioenergy Point will build another such facility worth 2 million euros and biomass power plant worth additional 7 million euros.
The co-owner of Bioenergy Point Zoran Drakulic said that the plan is to increase pellet production from 60,000 to 80,000 tons per year, thus becoming the largest pellet producer in the Balkans region. Along with this project, a 2.4 MW biomass power plant worth 7 million euros will be built as well, which will be unified with pellet production and would significantly reduce production costs.
He said that ten years ago, when the first pellet factory was commissioned, 90 % of the production was exported, but nowadays as much as 70 % of the production is sold in the domestic market, while the rest is exported.
