Serbia: Desulfurization installations’ investments, News Serbia Energy
Serbia’s first goal is to be energy secured, to have enough electricity and natural gas, but also to preserve the environment.
Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said that energy transition is a question of country’s economic development during her visit to coal-fired thermal power plant Nikola Tesla A (TENT A), where a desulfurization unit is being installed.
Minister Mihajlovic said that state-owned power utility EPS will invest hundreds of millions of euros in environmental projects in the coming period, because it is not only important for the economic development, but also for the health of citizens, adding that more than 500 million euros will be invested in desulfurization projects at coal-fired thermal power plants.
Serbia is making great strides in order to pass modern legislation and strategies, to invest in both renewable energy and energy efficiency. She also expressed hope that Serbia will have a National Plan for Climate and Energy by the end of this year and start to implement it in 2022.
