Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic said after the meeting with representatives of French energy company EDF that the company is interested in developing large-scale energy projects with state-owned power utility EPS, especially those involving hydropower.
Minister Antic said that when it comes to hydropower, EDF is the number one company in the world by numerous parameters and Serbian Government is ready to discuss this topic and look into the unused hydro-potential and the possibility of the construction of hydropower facilities on Serbian waterways together with EDF.
He added that it was agreed at the meeting, which was attended by the directors of EPS, Milorad Grcic, and electricity transmission system operator EMS, Jelena Matejic, to intensify the cooperation, primarily that of expert teams which would continue working intensively and the first next step in this cooperation is for an expert team from Serbia to visit France and EDF.
Minister Antic also reminded that he had signed an agreement with the Ambassador of France Frederic Mondoloni in January, defining priorities in future cooperation in energy.
