Power Industry of Serbia will not ask for price increase during the heating season, Acting Director of EPS Aleksandar Obradovic confirmed. the formation of the operator of the distribution system at the session of EPS Board is not the only way to get to a single network fee rates, Obradovic said, explaining that it is possible to change the law on energy or change the methodology which Energy Agency may declare.
He said that “people will be peaceful until the spring, but also from the spring, because the EPS system has become stable.”
“The people can be calm, EPS will not seek increase in electricity prices during this heating season”, said Obradovic visiting on TV B92.
He noted that EPS enters prepared in this heating season and electricity supply will be safe and secure.
Obradovic said that everything will be done that the electricity bill is more clear from the beginning of next year, and the proposal for the new bills, as announced, will be completed by the end of this year.
According to him, from first January next year technical possibilities will be created for a unique look electricity bills in all electric utilities in Serbia. The current electricity bill, he said, contains all the elements required by law to exist.
Obradovic expects that EPS will become a joint stock company by the end of this year, encouraged by the announcement of the ministry that it is going to be completed.
This is important, because EPS has to change the mode of operation, to go to the corporatization and become profitable, because now, according to estimates, due to poor organization, it loses 100,000 euros a day and someone has be responsible for it, he said.
“I demand changes because I feel responsible, EPS has to go to corporatization, which means that responsibility has “first and last name”, said Obradovic.
EPS is the latest “dinosaur” in the region in terms of organization and it has to change, to cross from a public company into a joint stock company in order to become a profitable company, he said and repeated that EPS should have just one finance director, instead of 13.
“If EPS would reorganize, we would have savings of more than 30 MEUR a year, and now 100,000 EUR that we didn’t save today, intake the system”, said Obradovic.
He reiterated that in the Ministry of Energy they told to wait for the adoption of the proposal for the establishment of a distribution system operator, which would provide a unique cost of access to the distribution system.
The Ministry also said that a special meeting of the Board of Directors of EPS is required on which it should be discussed about it, said Obradovic.
If a distribution system operator is not formed instead of the current five, we’ll get to a situation next year, when a new phase of liberalization of the electricity market comes, to have in the poor areas of the country electricity prices a third higher than the other parts, he explained, adding that, among other things he therefore insists that to change.
However, the formation of the operator of the distribution system at the session of EPS Board is not the only way to get to a single network fee rates, Obradovic said, explaining that it is possible to change the law on energy or change the methodology which Energy Agency may declare.
When you meet all the provisions relating to the reorganization of the EPS, the company will be, as he said, a basis for the economic development of the country.
“We showed that we can be a player in the market, and when reforms are implemented, I believe that EPS will be the engine of development of Serbia and its economy”, he said.
