Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic and Acting Director of state-owned power utility EPS Milorad Grcic said that the overhaul of unit A4 at thermal power plant Nikola Tesla A (TENT) will be completed by the end of July.
Minister Antic stressed the importance of unit A4 for the stability of electricity supply in Serbia, adding that electricity production in April was 14 % higher compared to April 2017, while coal production was 6 % higher compared to the same month last year. Grcic noted that the deadline for the completion of overhaul is 140 days, but works are already ahead of schedule and should be completed within the deadline.
The overhaul of the A4 unit at TPP Nikola Tesla A is one of the most important investments made by EPS this year. The investment of 53.5 million euros will increase the power output of the unit to 332 MW, extend its life cycle and enhance energy efficiency and environmental protection. According to EPS’ plans, overhaul of unit A5 should start in 2018 as well, following the completion of unit A4 modernization project, while the overhauls of units A1 and A2 at TPP Nikola Tesla A are planned for 2020 and 2021 respectively.
Termoelektrane Nikola Tesla (TENT) consists of four thermal power plants Nikola Tesla A, Nikola Tesla B, Kolubara and Morava with total installed capacity of 3,288 MW. With total power output of 1,502 MW (two 210 MW units and four 308 MW units), TPP Nikola Tesla A is the largest thermal power plant in Serbia.
