Despite earlier announcements that electricity price will increase for 10 to 12%, consumers will get increased bills by the end of heating season.
Procedure length is the reason for postponing the date of price increase. Managing Board of “Elektroprivreda Srbije” shall make decision for forming the corporation that Government would entrust work of public supplier what presents the first of several steps that precede electricity price increase.
– Government, as EPS’s establisher, must give approval for forming the industrial association and then to determine EPS for public supplier so it can ask for license from Energy Agency. Only after getting the license, the demand for price correction can be delivered to Energy Agency which makes the final decision- it was explained in EPS.
All work predicted by law suppose to be done in next 10 days, so electricity price can increase since 1 March. “Elektroprivreda Srbije” is responsible for informing the electricity consumers about price increase two weeks before the new law is enforced. This process can last in about a month so it is more realistic to expect price increase in April.
The fact that new tariff system isn’t finished yet is in favor of this thesis. The order for the energy protected consumer is also being processed and, according to announcements from Ministry of Energy, it will be adopted in 10 to 15 days.
