Serbia RES potentials are being explored, slowly but with perspective to be increased in installed capacity. Wind developers fighting for 500MW cap expects better framework for their projects.
There are 95 privileged producers of electricity from renewable energy sources in Serbia, which refers to the capacity of 51 megawatt of power, while the temporary status of privileged producer has 74 of them, with a total capacity of 40 megawatts.
Serbia needed an investment of 2,322 MEUR to build new capacity from renewable energy sources (RES) of 1,092 megawatts of power by 2020th. As for the benefits to investors, feed-in tariffs,the contract with the public supplier that is valid for 12 years, the temporary status of privileged producer of solar and wind energy were introduced in Serbia. Necessary conditions have a building permit and a bank guarantee in the amount of 2 percent of the research value. Feed-in tariffs are financed by fees for renewable energy, which is paid along with the electricity bill and amounted to 0.00068 EUR per kilowatt-hour for 2014th.
Interest rates on the loan are market ones, and there are subsidies during the project preparation. There are envisaged services of project consultants in the pre-investment phase, which lasts from 4 to 9 months. Types of projects may be RES green field projects up to 10 megawatts of power and projects in the field of industrial energy efficiency. The basic idea is the investor subsidy in the form of savings in gas emissions, and 10 percent of the debt would be written off after the project completion.
