American companies are interested to invest in modern energy capacities in Serbia, US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said during his meeting with Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic. Energy transition process, in which Serbia would work on increasing the production capacities, increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the energy mix and the diversification of energy supply, was also an opportunity to raise the cooperation in energy to a higher level, Minister Djedovic said.
She added that, in addition to the investments realized by the state, with the improvement of the legal framework, we also want to stimulate the private sector to invest in renewable energy sources more, which will contribute to a greater supply security, attracting new investments, as well as better environmental protection.
With the adoption of the plan of the development of the energy infrastructure and energy efficiency measures, along with the adopted amendments to the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources and the Strategic Documents whose preparation is in the final phase, Serbia set clear goals and priorities for the development of the energy sector.
