Atop of a landfill of closed coal-fired thermal power plant Trbovlje near Hrastnik state-owned energy company HSE obtained the building permit for Prapretno solar power plant.
With installed capacity of 3.04 MW, this will be the largest solar power plant in Slovenia when completed, and the country’s only solar power plant with output larger than 1 MW. It should cover the demand for electricity of some 800 households. HSE plans to lay the founding stone for the project on 3 July.
The head of the project Nenad Trkulja said that HSE plans to revive electricity production in the area, this time in an environmentally friendly way, without harmful emissions. He added that existing infrastructure at the site allows for the expansion of the plant’s capacity in the future.
