In the first half of 2020, support payments for electricity from renewable energy sources (RES) and high-efficiency cogeneration amounted to 67.4 million euros, which is 2.7 % more compared to the same period last year, according to data published by Slovenian energy market operator Borzen.
At the end of June 2020, the feed-in system covered 3,854 power plants with a combined installed capacity of 411.4 MW, which accounts for 12 % of Slovenia’s total installed capacity. The total electricity production covered by the support system amounted to 516.5 GWh, which is 1.6 % more compared to January-June 2019 period. The average subsidy amounted to 130.5 euros/MWh, 1.15 % more than a year before. The largest amount, namely 35.21 million euros, was paid to owners of solar facilities, which generated 147.04 GWh of electricity, followed by fossil fuel CHP which received 12.98 million euros in subsidies for 197.35 GWh of produced electricity. SHPPs received 2.02 million euros for 44.87 GWh of produced electricity, biomass power plants 10.57 million euros (73.55 GWh) and biogas power plants 5.68 million euros (47.42 GWh). The trend of rising support payments stabilized in 2015, when they stood at 147.1 million euros. Over the following two years, payments gradually decreased to 143.5 million euros in 2017. In 2018 payments amounted to 135.1 million euros, while in 2019 it further dropped to 123 million euros.
