20 of 317 locations for small HPPs’ construction presented by the Ministry of Energy, Environmental Development and Protection to potential investors are placed in Prijepolje municipality.
37 of these locations are in Lim’s basin. HPPs would also be constructed in Priboj (14) next to Prijepolje, i.e. Nova Varos.
Prijepolje has been the potential construction terrain for several years because Canadian Company REV is in the late phase of preparation for construction of 2 HPPs with total power of 58 MW currently. This Company is ready to invest 145 million EUR in this job because it has invested 10 million EUR already in geological research, required projects, licenses and private property buyout.
City Mayor of Prijepolje, Emir Hadzibegovic, said to Beta Agency that it is good that Resources Ministry will coordinate this works in order to avoid multiply issuance of licenses and to bring order in this area. Local administration is absolutely ready to provide all necessary help to potential investors and to ensure them to get all required documentation mostly issued by local authorities as soon as possible, Hasimbegovic underlined.
Minister of Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, declared that construction of all 317 small HPPs will bring 120 to 200 million EUR investments and 1.000 work places.
The total power of small HPPs is 110 MW yearly and they should produce 400 gigawatt-hours of electricity on annual plan.
