In the 6-month period from January to June 2014, HPPs produced 2,353 GWh, a decrease of 46.9% less than the amount of energy of 4,429 GWh which was produced in the first six months of 2013.
Available electricity derived from all sources in the first six months rose by 1.1%, compared with the same period last year.
The amount of energy produced, imported and exported amounted to 4,022 GWh, where domestic production fell 58.5% power consumption.
Production from the three hydropower plants on the Drin River represents 66.7% of net domestic production.
HPPs of private independent producers and those given by concession electricity produced 33.3% in the first 6 months.
In terms of the scarcity of domestic energy production to consumer needs, its crude imports in the first six-month period amounted to 1,786 GWh, accounting for 44.4% of the available energy, from 20.2% in the same period last year.
Consequently, the gross export of electricity resulted in the reduction of 1,140 GWh.
